The main motif for DOKs 2025 issue was a shoe. When brainstorming ideas for the trailer, we quickly came up with the English phrase, ‘Walk a day in my shoes,’ as an invitation to empathise with other people and their circumstances. We took this literally. Together with DOP Manuel Schamberger, we spent some time tinkering with attaching a camera at ankle height, figuring out the right stride lengths and speeds, and minimising possible vibrations. Our concept was to show as many different people as possible doing different activities. Swimming, swinging, working, shopping at the supermarket, dancing, etc. We were a little surprised that it all fit together so well in post-production, because we were worried that viewers might get seasick. Matthias Ermert once again composed the perfect music to accompany the fast cuts and steps and the varied dynamics for this year's trailer.
